Making a Piñata Using Cardboard Boxes

Now it’s something we can all agree on. A birthday party may have everything including a cake, presents, and balloons but without piñata, the party can never be termed as fulfilling. Here, I am going to admit that when my daughter asked me to buy her a piñata as a birthday present, I just didn’t want to spend money. Instead, I got an idea when I saw loads of cardboard boxes present in my house. Since my birthday girl asked for a pony shaped piñata because she is quite inspired by wooden Swedish dala horse that I have, I started using those cardboard boxes in the way YouTube tutorials guided me and it was done in a few hours.

Before jumping to the guide that I followed to make this wonderful present, I want to assure you that this DIY task is very convenient and it doesn’t take more than a few hours. In fact, I was so involved while making it that I didn’t have any idea about the time I spent on the task.

Here’s the list of items you’ll need to build a piñata.
  • One or two cardboard boxes
  • Masking tape
  • Pencil
  • Tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Lollypops or candies
  • String for hanging

Below are the tips that you can follow to make a wonderful piñata.
  1. Use pen or pencil to draw desired shape of piñata on one side of the box. Start cutting the box upon the outline. After getting the cardboard cut into the shape from one side, use this cardboard to draw same shape on the other side of the box.
  2. Cut that side in the way as mentioned in previous tip.
  3. If one or both sides include a bend (like a bent section that differentiates box side and the flap), cut a piece of cardboard and attach it across the bent section to keep the side straight and strong.
  4. Now cut the cardboard to make strips. The width of these strips would be the width of piñata. So it’s up to you how wider piñata you want to make.
  5. Get the strips ready by loosening them up very gently.
  6. Now start attaching the strips with the edges of one of the piñata shaped cardboards. While you attach the strip, apply the masking tape consistently in order to keep shape of strip intact.
  7. Strip might run out and there would be more of the side to cover, so start attaching the other strip. Tape the connecting points of both strips.
  8. Whatever the number of strips you need to use, use them and make sure that all of the edges are covered.
  9. Put the other side of piñata on the side with strips and tape it. The piñata structure should be completed now.
  10. Get fringe and tissue papers and cut them into strips. Start gluing them from the bottom and move upward. Make sure that upper strips overlap the ones glued below.
There it is. Now you can color the strips using different shapes to make piñata presentable.

How Packaging for Food Helps with Brand Promotions

The packaging of products plays a role in a variety of different aspects of the business, including product promotion, and the establishment of your brand.  Think about when you go to the grocery store and look at the product. You might see a few products that catch your eye due to the attractive wrapping that it has.  When you buy foods to consume, people don’t just look at the product themselves, but also what’s inside the packaging too, and the outer contents.

The food and drink world does understand this importance, and there is a reason why it’s got such a good impact on business. This is also the reason that if you’re using food packaging, whether bags, pouches or the like, the right ones will maintain a level of freshness on this for a longer period of time.

How Food Packaging Offers Brand Value

Food packaging is made to serve so many different purposes.

For one, it’s a display of the food that’s inside, so you’re basically giving the promotion right there. it also displays the item too, so that if it’s on store shelves, it’s right there.

It does also offer some physical protection against the elements. When you transport it, you don’t want it to be contaminated or broken.

It also gives information about the product, such as nutritional information, other promotions, even information about the brand.

Finally, it avoids the damage of the item physically, not just during transit, but also at the store.

The food and drink world is incredibly competitive. This is because people will get alternatives if the quality of the items and the packaging aren’t up to the demands of the customers.

Brands do associate this same world with this, and they must be aware that the packaging of consumables does help some consumers determine whether they want to spend money on an item or not.

When they make food wrappers, you want to make sure that you consider the following:

  • The design fits the product and is relevant

  • It’s got an attractive color and font size

  • The quality of the bag of packaging is right

Packaging Needs to Protect

The packaging must be worth investing in, and it needs to be reliable. Think about it, this is what is protecting the product’s freshness until it’s time to expire. If it can’t do that, then it’s not even worth having on there.

The wrapping also needs to be strong enough to sit on the shelf and protect it from damage that might occur.

Flexible packaging is the way to go when it comes to edible treats, because it fits the needs of the product and offers the top-level protection you need.  This will help to gain the trust of the consumer, especially if you’re trying to serve better, fresher packed items.

Attacking the Buyers

It also attracts the eye of the buyer. This is because people see these items, and when consumers get their attention on something, it naturally encourages them to buy this.

This is also why some companies are so hyper focused on the right product wrapping that’s there. with companies continuously conducting research extensively for their own research, knowing the right means to popularize your brand is the way to go.

You want to attract the buyers that you want using different forms of packaging, and creative means that’ll help make the food packaging stand out.

Doing this today will help with impacting the overall well-being of your products, and making them last a long time, regardless of the location.
